Flowers in Ecuador

Absolutely in love with the color of this flower. They were all over the Ecuadorian country side.

Not sure that the stamen are in focus here. It's always a real challenge trying to blur the background but get the foreground and mid ground to come in sharp.

Just a few of the better flower photos from my trip to Ecuador earlier this year (March 2016). The last one was really underexposed. I did what I could in photoshop but trying to brighten it anymore was ruining the image (making it really grainy). I still like the way it looks, but I do wish the center of the flower was a bit brighter.

  1. I like the last one, particularly for the bokeh backdrop, but then I'm fine with darker images in general. The first one is very interesting just for the shape of the flower. It is almost like it is a bird that is nuzzling up to the stem: think of the stamens as a tail and the base of the flower as a beak...

  2. Thanks for the comments! Interesting thought on the first image. It's certainly different. I haven't seen many flowers shot from that angle before.
