More photos from my trip out west. These are all photos of mussels in Oregon. I don't think I've ever seen mussels this prolific before. They grew thickly on every inch of rock that could possibly be hit by the ocean water during high tide. It was really amazing to see.
The first photo I had to crop to capture the part of the original photo that was in focus and the second photo I had to dodge (lighten) the center of the photo where mussels go deep into a dark hole in the rock where the ocean water seeps up. The last photo I played around a bit more with. I turned it black and white and then erased (bringing the color back) the mussels. This technique makes the mussels pop a bit more and just makes the photo more interesting in general.
